Things are about to get SPOOOKY at the Eerie Zoo!

ZooBOO is one of our most important (and fun!) fundraisers of the year. Every October it gets a little spoooky! Every night of ZooBOO is packed with scary, but not too scary Halloween family fun. This is hands-down one of our most popular events seeing tens of thousands of guests annually. This year, ZooBOO will run nightly from 6pm to 9pm October 15th through October 30th. 

We are excited to bring our sensory-friendly ZooBOO night back for its second year on Thursday, October 15th. Our sensory-friendly night provides you with the same ZooBOO experience as a typical ZooBOO night, but without any flashing lights, loud noises, or overstimulating activities.

• Trick-or-Treat at booths throughout the zoo (all ages welcome with a Treater ticket)

Make-A-Monster Contest

Help transform the zoo grounds into a festive, whimsical trail of creativity by entering our annual Make-A-Monster contest! This year, our Make-A-Monster contest theme is Classical Monster, like Mummy, Frankenstein, Dracula, or any of the Hotel Transylvania movie characters!

Who can participate?

This contest is open to individuals, families, schools, businesses, everyone is welcome!

Please read the guidelines below carefully:

• Monsters can be made out of any appropriate materials, but everything must be able to withstand the weather. The event runs October 15th - October 30th and your monster will be outside the entire time. You must provide all materials for the display. Please NO real pumpkins, perishable materials, or anything electric.
• You must provide a stake, stand or way of keeping your monster upright for the duration of the event.
• Monsters must be dropped off at the Erie Zoo October 5th - October 12th between 8am-4pm (weekdays only) at the Erie Zoo Office(brick building located at the top of the hill).
• If you would like your monster back, please indicate by checking the box on the application and picking it up the week of November 9 - November 13 10am-4pm. Please note, we are not responsible for any damages that may happen during the event. Any creatures left will be used by or disposed by the Zoo at our discretion.
• The Zoo reserves the right to eliminate or alter any inappropriate exhibits. Please remember this is a kid-friendly event so no violent, gory, scary or political affiliations will be allowed.
• Participants are welcome to supply a sign identifying their organization or group. Signs could be no larger than 2ft W x 1ft H. All signs must be weather proof.
• The deadline for entering the contest is September 30th by 5pm. You may apply online, via email to hhartley@eriezoo.org, or by dropping off the form at the Erie Zoo Office Monday- Friday 8am to 4:30pm.
