Join us for our ZooBOO Make-a-Classical Monster Contest!
ZooBOO is one of the most important (and fun!) fundraisers of the year for your Erie Zoo. We are always looking for new ways to decorate and make our Zoo a scary (but not TOO scary) place for families to enjoy.
This fall, we're transforming the zoo grounds into a festive, whimsical trail of creativity and we'd love your help in bringing it to life by designing your very own classical monster creation (think Frankenstein, the Mummy, Dracula)! There will be prizes for the top three classical monster creations; which could include gift cards, animal art, and more!
Interested in participating? The contest is open to individuals, families, schools, and businesses, so essentially everyone!
Please read the guidelines below carefully and apply at the bottom of the page.
Guidelines
- Monsters can be made out of any appropriate materials, but everything must be able to withstand the weather. The event runs October 15th - October 30th and your creature will be outside the entire time. You must provide all materials for the display. Please NO real pumpkins, perishable materials, or anything electric.
- You must provide a stake, stand, or way of keeping your creature upright for the duration of the event.
- Creatures must be dropped off at the Erie Zoo October 5th - October 12th between 8am-4pm (weekdays only) at the Erie Zoo Office(brick building located at the top of the hill).
- If you would like your monster back, please indicate by checking the box on the application and picking it up the week of November 9 - November 13 10am-4pm. Please note, we are not responsible for any damages that may happen during the event. Any creatures left will be used by or disposed by the Zoo at our discretion.
- The Zoo reserves the right to eliminate or alter any inappropriate exhibits. Please remember this is a kid-friendly event so no violent, gory, scary or political affiliations will be allowed.
- Participants are welcome to supply a sign identifying their organization or group. Signs could be no larger than 2ft W x 1ft H. All signs must be weather proof.
- The deadline for entering the contest is September 30th by 5pm. You may apply online, via email to hhartley@eriezoo.org, or by dropping off the form at the Erie Zoo Office Monday- Friday 8am to 4:30pm.
