Siberian Peashrubs (Caragana arborescens) are related to peas and are classified in the same scientific family - Fabaceae. Their fruits are edible, but should be cooked before consumption.

Small, bright yellow flowers attract butterflies and pollinators. The fruit are 2 inch long green pods that make an audible popping sound when they open.

Landscape Use
Great for hedges, screens, windbreaks, and holding soil in place on eroding banks, but not ideal for home use
Care Practices
Plant in an area with full sun to part shade and prune regularly. These extremely cold-hardy shrubs can tolerate drought, heat, high winds, salinity, and a variety of soil types.
