Merski to present $250,000 check to Erie Zoo Nov. 1
Grant will fund work needed to regain accreditation
ERIE, Oct. 31 – State Rep. Bob Merski, D-Erie, will deliver a $250,000 check to the Erie Zoo tomorrow, Nov. 1, representing funding he secured from the Department of Community and Economic Development. The projects funded will include construction of new family/gender neutral restrooms, which is a necessary step toward helping the zoo regain its accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
The grant will also fund replacing the existing viewing structure with a new one.
