Update GalapaZOOza 2020 Event:

Due to the current uncertainty and Erie Zoo closure caused by the Covid-19 virus, we have made the decision to temporarily postpone GalapaZOOza 2020 - The Roaring 20's.

Since we are unsure of what the future holds for us over the next couple months along with our desire to offer you a top quality (and safe) event, we feel this is the best action at this time. We plan to reschedule the event for later this year and will announce the reschedule date as soon as it is available.

GalapaZOOza is an event that we look forward to every year. It is not only a WILDly good time, but it also serves the very important purpose of being our largest fundraiser of the year. As a nonprofit, we depend on GalapaZOOza to provide a large source of funding for our daily functioning.

We thank you all for your patience and understanding during these difficult times. We hope to reschedule AND see you all again soon!

A statement from your Erie Zoo regarding Covid-19 transfer to animals:

In response to the recent report of Covid-19 transfer from a keeper to big cat species at the Bronx Zoo, we have implemented protocol that all keeper staff must wear masks and gloves when entering all animal holding areas. This has always been standard with our primates with additional PPE (personal protective equipment) including face shields as there has already been proven knowledge that primates can contract diseases from humans. Now that there is evidence that there is potential danger to other species, we are taking extra precautions. Our staff will also continue to practice the already established safety procedures of social distancing, increased sanitation and hygiene practices. As always, the animals come first and their safety our number one concern. Thank you for your continued support of your Erie Zoo.

March 18th, 2020

As a nonprofit, your Erie Zoo depends on ticket sales, memberships, concession purchases, donations, and education programs to care for the animals and keep our facility functioning.

We would like to ask our supporters that if you are able and willing, to continue to support us through purchasing/renewing your membership online, sponsoring an animal, donating to our "Emergency Fund", or simply spreading the word via your social media. We know this is a difficult time for all of us, so no amount or way of help is too small.

During this time, please take comfort in knowing that we are maintaining the highest quality of animal care. As always, the animals are our top priority. Your support will allow us to continue to care for your animals at the highest level. We thank you for all of your continued support! 💚
