Today marks the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day and though we can't be together physically, there are so many ways we can come together to protect and celebrate our planet. This year, Earth Day is going digital!
The Erie Zoo is going into close down mode. While spring is one of the zoos best season’s, CEO Scott Mitchell says they will follow the Governor’s guidelines as a non-essential business.
All Erie Zoo classes are now cancelled until further notice in response to Covid-19 directives.
UPDATE: Your Erie Zoo is now temporarily closed.
At this time the Erie Zoo will remain open daily 10am-5pm as normal. Presently there are no cases of Covid-19 in the Erie area and we feel is safe to keep our gates open at this time.

Voted Erie's Choice 2019 for "Best Place to Work" AND "Best Place to Have a Birthday Party"
Nigel, a 9-year-old giraffe, will leave the zoo at the end of this month, Scott Mitchell, Erie Zoological Society president and CEO, said on Thursday.
Nigel is leaving Erie for a zoo in the Midwest, Mitchell said. As part of the Erie Zoo’s $10 million capital campaign, Wild Open Spaces, it plans to make a larger and more interactive giraffe exhibit with a herd of giraffes, he explained.
